SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, has 20+ active traffic engineering contracts and has completed 200+ traffic engineering contracts in the past 15 years for counties, state DOTs, and FHWA, as well as cities throughout Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia. Because of this diversity of experience, we have a thorough understanding of the environments in which transportation engineers work and the constraints and challenges they face. Our key staff has supervised the design of 2,000+ traffic signals, optimized 5,000+ traffic signals, and performed traffic analysis and studies at 10,000+ intersections over the last 15 years.

Keith Riniker is a leading  Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) / Traffic engineer, as well as an experienced project manager. He has over 20 years of experience in traffic engineering analysis, traffic operations, research, planning, and design of traffic signals, highway signing, and ITS systems. He has a strong knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), MUTCD, local and state design standards and processes, FHWA, AASHTO, and ITE best practices. His technical experience includes hundreds of traffic operations, safety, and simulation studies; hands-on optimization of signal timings for 3,000+ intersections; design of 500+ signals, thousands of highway signs and hundreds ITS devices; ITS strategic planning and corridor-wide ITS deployments; agency-wide traffic signal upgrade projects, including Adaptive Traffic Signal Control; and ATMS and Central Signal Systems. Keith is the inventor of the Folded Lefts Interchange, an unconventional interchange, and the patent-pending Connected Vehicle technology application, EAD.Transit. He is the recipient of the ITSMD Innovative Leadership Award and the MD SHA OOTS Award for Outstanding Customer Service.
