SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, is providing engineering services for the planning and design of the water mains, sanitary sewers, street lighting and electric conduit systems for the 100-acre Uplands Redevelopment site in west Baltimore. This mixed-use redevelopment project is partially funded by the City of Baltimore and is part of the City’s Urban Renewal Area Plan.
SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, was responsible for the planning and design of over 11,000 linear feet of gravity sewer main, 12,000 linear feet of water mains, and 22,000 linear feet of electrical conduits including 12,800-linear feet of multiple 3-in., 4-in. and 5-in. PVC conduit, concrete encased City conduit ductbanks connecting to 43-precast concrete electrical manholes (EMHs), each 6-ft. x 12-ft. x 8 to 10-ft. deep, plus 5-Conduit ductbank interties to the existing Area ‘B’ City Conduit system and prepared Contract Documents (Plans, Specifications and Estimate). The conduit system design capacity is based on BGE Electric power cable routing and transformer locations, Comcast telecomm cable routing and pedestal locations, and City Conduit spare capacity requirements to serve the new single and multi-family residential development, and required design coordination with the new residential units, roadway, water and gas mains, storm drains, and separate Verizon conduit system designed by others.
The completed development will consist of multi-family rental units, duplexes, townhouses, single family detached units and triplexes totaling over 460 units, as well as approx. 15,000 sf of office / retail and 5,000 sf of restaurant space.
